This morning I went to check on the pigs early since it was pretty cold for them last night. This is what I found when I got there… a pig pile with some pigs still sleeping. If you listen closely, you can hear the pig on the left snoring.
When you’re starting a farm, there a gazillion details you have to think through. And every step involves something new.
On delivery day, step 1 involved driving 3 hours round trip in the opposite direction to pickup a livestock trailer we are borrowing. We then drove another hour to get the pigs after weighing in at the local feed store’s scales. We picked up 11 pigs of varying ages and breeds including Gloucester Old Spot, Chester White, and Berkshire. Once loaded, we needed to drive back to get the final weight of the truck and trailer with the pigs loaded.
